Weeks 21-22

Week 21 (14th June)
Firstly this week has been a good week, had my scan on friday, all is well with my little man! Wow that still sounds weird, i'm going to have a son. Our son's crown-to-rump length is 7.2 inches and he weighs about 10.5 ounces according to some places although at our scan they estimated 14 oz. He is about the size of a large banana.
fetal development at 21weeks
His eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed and the fingernails cover his fingertips. Also he can now hear our conversations. Also our little man has decided that mummy's bedtime is a good time to have a good old wriggle. I don't mind but it is making it that little bit harder to get to sleep. lol. He is also getting stronger and i'm sure some of his stronger movements are kicks, they do feel like it.

Week 22 (21st June)
Just a little update for the time between 21 and 22 weeks everything is good. Nothing too exciting to report in fairness. Little man is doing well. moving around and giving me heartburn but other than that he is good.

Our little man now looks like a miniature newborn and weighs almost one pound (430 grams), measures nearly 11 inches (27 cms) long from crown to heel. His lips are becoming more distinct and his eyes have developed; though the iris still lacks pigment, his eyebrows and eyelids are in place. His pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily and the first signs of teeth are showing beneath his gum line. Our little man's senses are developing daily, he now has a full complement of neurons in the brain and is learning about his body and surroundings through touch. Touch is one of the first senses to mature and he may stroke his face or feel his arms and legs. He is already starting to make antibodies too.
Also i'm getting another scan done!! My boyfriend's mum rang this week too as she was out with some girly friends, one of whom used to live across the road from her and works at the hospital where i had my scan actually in the ultrasound department. Then my boyfriends mum mentioned that i'd had my 20 week scan done and i'd had a bad scan experience. I was really disappointed with the pictures that the guy doing the scan didn't talk us through what he was looking at all the time which we found disappointing. She said that they'd had some complaints about the male radiographers recently (so it wasn't just me) and that if i wanted she could get me another scan organised for free WOOHOO!!! So excited!!
